Pre-congress tour

The pre-congress tour takes place on the territory of Georgia. Please check the visa requirements for your citizenship!

Booking must be done before end of 01.07.2024. We’ll have the application form for tours ready for you in the first week of April. Payment procedure will be given in the Third Circular.

Participants should carry a valid passport during the entire trip.

Please note, that the tour starts 6th of September around 9:00 AM. It is your own responsibility to book a hotel for a night before the begenning of the tour.

The trip requires some physical fitness, associated with the need to walk sections during hikes, climb stairs, ramps, and takes place in terrain with varied topography. Even when using buses to visit some sites during the trip, there is often a need for walking uphill.

 

Programme

Day 1

The tour starts at starting point in a walking distance from Tbi- lisi National Museum. The exact location will be sent later to the participants of excursion.

National Museum – the biggest and the most important mu- seum in Georgia with rich and unique collection of ancient artifacts coming from several sites (Vani, Martkopi, Mtskheta, Ananuri etc.). Collection of golden, silver and bronze objects is the highlight of the museum.

Lunch break

Tbilisi walking tour: Rustaveli Avenue, Kote Abhazi, Peace Bridge, Cable Car to Narikala Fortress, Walking down to the mosque, Waterfalls and to Maidan square. A Half day walking tour will give us the impression of several architecture pearls of the capital city of Georgia.

Day 2

Breakfast

Departure to Dzalisa. Coffee break upon arrival and visiting of the site.

Dzalisa

was the city known in antiquity as Zalissa according to Claudius Ptolemy. One of the most imprtant centres in ancient Iberia. The most impressive are remains of the palace with paved with mosaic floor of unique beauty.

Jvari Panorama

– the most beautiful panorama of the Mtskheta re- gion from the place of constructiong the Georgian Monastery Jvari

Transfer to Armazi and visiting the site.

Armazi

was an Iberian city situated on a strategic location on the crossroads of trade routes. Particularly noteworthy among the ruins of the ancient kingdom of Iberia are the remains of a fire temple and also the ruins of several private baths made in the same way as in rich houses in the Roman provinces. The remains of a massive fortification wall also attract attention.

Wine break

Lunch in Mtskheta

Mtskheta

visit (including Sveti Cchoveli Church, Samtavro necropolis from Roman period). Main part of the capital city of ancient Iberia. The heart of Georgian Christian faith with great story of St. Nino.

Transfer to Kutaisi, check in at the hotel and dinner.

Day 3

Departure to Geguti Palace and visit.

Arrival to Batumi between 13:00 and 15:00 (the bus will take you to the University of Batumi and you can easily transfer to your hotel by taxi).
